Education sciences address the totality of educational facts, covering all stages of life, from young children to adults, and many fields of investigation, such as school, family upbringing, social work and training of disabled people. With a degree in education sciences, graduates may do research, work in the private or non-profit sector, or practice in various professional fields (e.g. health, sport, professional integration or culture).

Every year, education professionals (education officers, social workers, teachers and professors, etc.) register at the FES, for either an initial study programme or continuing vocational training. This return to education is widely regarded as a good way to update one’s knowledge, take time for reflection and gain perspective on one’s professional practices.

Example career opportunities (outside the national education system)

  • Education officer
  • Policy officer in the education department of local and regional authorities, in academic delegations for the regional education office, at universities
  • Programme leader for rural or urban social development initiatives
